the iron rooms
about the iron rooms
philosophy
"original, honest and authentic"
We tend to avoid modern reproduction items, quite simply because the pieces often cannot match the quality of their historic predecessors. Moreover, the signs of wear and use offer an intrinsic value that a modern piece could never replicate. None of the pieces sold are distressed, any signs of wear is historic not manufactured. Many pieces will be restored, such as fireplaces, however they will be finished using traditional materials and methods.
the owner
I have lived and worked in East Anglia for most of my life. After being made redundant as a financial consultant a number of years ago, I decided to pursue my passion in architectural antiques, culminating in setting up the Iron Rooms.
After sympathetically renovating a number of period homes from Tudor to Victorian, I learned to love restoring the architectural elements back to their former glory.
When I am not covered in rust and dirt I spend my time with my 3 children and can often be found with my wife taking my dog for walks in the village of Hempnall where I live.
